We take great pleasure to announce this landmark project for Miani in memory of Late Bawa Niranjan Singh who was a great educationist and community leader of our village. His son Bawa Rajinder Singh Lalli an eminent business man of New York has donated one Kanal of land on Miani Dasuya Road for this purpose. Already people from our village has committed to donate about 15 lacs rupees for this project. Miani lacks the facility of library and community center and all members of society has shown lot of interest in this project. The building shall have a community center on the first floor and library on 2nd floor. Apart from books people will have access to internet facility. The community center will be a place where people could meet and discuss village matters and socialize. The foundation stone has already been laid on Dec. 3, 2009 and building plans are being finalized. Work on this project shall commence shortly.

There is a Aaanganwari School Project by the government under which children under five years of age who cannot afford private schools can go to these schools. However there is no proper building facility for these children. Most of the times they sit in open public areas or old buildings/houses of the village. Therefore the society has decided to build two new schools for this purpose.

1. Mata Amar Kaur Memorial Aanganwari School: This school shall be built near Ward # 3 and all funds shall be provided by the family of S. Jagir Singh Thekedar, President of Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Urban Estate, Phase 2, Jalandhar, in memory of his wife Late Sardarni Amar Kaur. Work has already started for this school.
2. S. Chet Singh Memorial Aanganwari School: This school shall be built in Ward # 6. The funds are being provided by S. Sujan Singh and S. Mastan Singh prominent business men of New York in memory of their father Late S. Chet Singh.

The society has decided to install road lights from Miani to Pulpukhta since this is a very widely used road of Miani and leads to Gurdwara of Sixth Guru Hargobind Singh Ji at Pulpukhta. S. Paramjit Singh Pamma has kindly agreed to donate all funds for this project and work is starting shortly on this project.

This includes our every year commitment to give prizes to topper students from various schools of Miani and also distribute uniforms/winter clothing to poor students.

We shall need some funds to maintain/clean the Nallahs from time to time for water drainage and maintain the trees planted last year

Residents have no place to throw away the household garbage and they dump it around houses and streets. This also flows into the nallahs and street drains for which we have to spend money to clean them. If we have 5-6 garbage containers at different locations people can throw garbage into these containers and the containers can then be removed and emptied by tractor trolleys. Panchayat shall take responsibility for removing the containers and dispose of garbage. Our help is needed to buy the containers for which estimates are being taken. On trial basis we shall buy two containers for now.

We all know that drinking water quality of our village is very poor and needs to be improved. We already have water tank in the village but the water supply does not reach every house. It shall be a very beneficial to have water supply pipes laid out throughout the village like the cities. This way every house can get water supply connection and drink and use clean and healthy water. This project is big and shall be done under World Bank Scheme. The village shall have to contribute only 5% of the total cost and our society can help with that. Our Indian Coordinators have already filed application for this project and it is being processed. We shall keep you updated with the progress in every meeting from time to time.
