Following is a list of some eminent personalities of Miani from present and past. This list is not exhaustive and we may be missing some personalities. In addition, the information is only to the best of our knowledge and there could be inaccuracies. We would like feedback from the public for additions/corrections to the list in the future. Late S. Lakhi Singh Chaudri, Ex. MLA: He was a very prominent personality from the Lubana community. He was a very educated person and held an eminent position in Punjab’s government as local Fund Account Examiner, Punjab. He made many contributions to education in the region and built very prominent schools in Miani. All these schools have a very high reputation and have beautiful school buildings. This helped people from Miani to get a good education and progress in life at times when there were no good schools in the nearby area. The school has helped people to get good professions in the government and private sectors.
Late Bawa Niranjan Singh: An eminent educationist and a born leader, he was the chairman of Khalsa School and College in Begowal. He was principal of this school and a very respected mathematics teacher. He played a very active role in the village and community affairs. He rose to the occasion whenever someone needed help in the village. He was affiliated with the Congress Party for a long time and also, ran for MLA elections once. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2006. A large number of people attended his funeral, including high ranking office bearers of the Congress Party.
Late S. Boor Singh: He was a very active community leader and took an active part in community affairs. He used to be State Secretary at all gatherings in the village for a long time and was a very good speaker. He was a very respected personality in our village for a long time. His son, S. Joginder Singh, is currently settled in New York and is Vice President of Miani Overseas Welfare Society. He is also actively involved with affairs of society.
Late Master Maan Singh: He was a very well-known figure in the Lobana community and a very respected teacher. He played an active role in village affairs and was a very popular leader. He was very helpful to people, and is missed by many.
Late Master Sewa Singh: He used to be a very popular and intelligent Punjabi language teacher. He played an active in community matters and rose to the occasion whenever the village needed him. His son, S. Manmohan Singh, who is now settled in New York is also a member of Miani Overseas Welfare Society and plays an active role in society’s affairs.

  Present  
  S. Balbir Singh Chaudri, Ex. MLA: Son of Late S. Lakhi Singh Chaudri, he has been elected twice as an MLA with affiliation to the ruling Akali Dal Party from Tanda Constituency. He was also Punjab’s Minister of State for Higher Education in the previous Akali Dal government. Prior to this, he has been Sarpanch of Miani for a very long time. He is in very close touch with our Welfare Society and has promised to support the Society for development of Miani. He currently owns and is in charge of the educational institutions of Lakhinder, Miani. He has provided many able and illustrious leadership to expand these schools. During his recent visits to New York, he promised to work actively to develop infrastructure in Miani.
S. Tarlok Singh, Major General (Retired) s/o of Late S. Lakhi Singh Chaudri, he had a great career in the Indian Army and rose to the rank of Major General. He is currently retired and settled in Jalandhar.
S. Surinder Singh, Colonel (Retired): Son of Late S. Lakhi Singh Chaudri, who retired from Colonel of the Indian Army and is currently settled in Jalandhar.
Sardarni Surinder Kaur: Wife of S. Balbir Singh Chaudri, Ex. MLA, is the present Sarpanch of our village and has been so for a very long time. She has provided a very able leadership for development and other affairs of Miani.
S. Jagir Singh Thekedar: A very religious person by nature, he retired as an accountant from Punjab State Agricultural Marketing Board and is currently settled in Jalandhar. He is founder of and at present, the President of Gurdwara Singh Saba located in Urban Estate Phase II of Jalandhar. He helped to build this Gurdwara starting with the acquisition of land and then completed this grand Gurdwara building to its present great building and facilities. He is highly respected in the area due to his full-time devotion to serve the Gurdwara and he has been the President of this great Gurdwara since 1988, purely because of his spirit and mission of service. Although all his sons and daughters are settled in the USA and Canada, he continues to live in Jalandhar because of his attachment and desire to serve the Gurdwara and take it to the next stage of development.
Master Mohinder Singh: He is a very well-known community figure in New York and the USA as well. He is one of the Patrons of our Bhai Hukam Singh Welfare Society. Prior to this, he was president of the Sikh Cultural Society of New York and is the founder president of Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lobana in New York. He was a mathematics teacher in Miani Government School when he was in India. Currently he runs an insurance business in New York. He provides a very able guidance to our society and is actively involved in our community and the Sikh affairs in New York . He has raised a great family and his two daughters and son are all dentists and well-settled in the USA.
Bawa Rajinder Singh (Lalli): Son of Late Bawa Nirangan Singh, he is currently settled in New York. Presently he is chairman of Sikh Cultural Society of New York and is a patron of our Society. He is an eminent businessman who has really expanded his real estate and construction businesses to great proportions. He is known for contributing generously to all causes of our community. He is also chairman of Sant Prem Singh Cultural Society of New York and organizes the annual function commemorating the death anniversary of Sant Prem Singh.
S. Satwinder Singh (Satta): He is one of the Patrons of our Society and is the founding President. He is the person who took the initiative to create this organization, along with other members. He is currently settled in New York and owns a construction business. He has taken an active part in our community and religious affairs for a long time and is well-known in the area.
S. Kuldip Singh (Khalsa): Son of S. Santokh Singh, he is one of the Patrons of our Society and is former President of Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lobana. He is currently settled in New York and plays an active role in community affairs. He has served as Secretary of Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lobana in the past.
S. Shivdev Singh, Principal (Retired): A very well-educated and able person, he was Principal of Government High School. He is a very respected personality and is currently settled in the village Miani. We recently requested that he help us in the development projects of our Society, and he has graciously accepted to play a role in this notable cause.
S. Ragbir Singh, Captain (Retired): Brother of S. Jagir Singh Thekedar, he is settled in Ward III of Miani. He is presently the cashier at the Gurdwara Akali Dal Miani and plays an active role in the community affairs of the village Miani.
S. Balbir Singh, DSP (Retired): Brother of S. Jagir Singh Thekedar, he is settled in Ward III of Miani. He had a great career with Border Security Force and rose to the rank of DSP. He is actively involved in community affairs and development of village Miani.
S. Sarwan Singh (Sunny): Son of S. Jagir Singh Thekedar, he is currently settled in New York. He owns a construction business and a hardware business in New York. His daughter is studying biomedical engineering in Philadelphia.
S. Lakhvinder Singh (Lakhi): Son of S. Jagir Singh Thekedar, he is currently settled in New York. He owns a very prominent construction business and has recently completed very large construction jobs with School Construction Authority of New York and the Housing Authority of New York. He has expanded his construction business in a very short time. He is very actively involved in community affairs of Nassau County, New York and was honored in 2007 by the Nassau County Executive Tom Swazi for his role in community affairs. He is also a partner in the company which owns upcoming Jus Punjabi Cable Channel. He is a member of the Planning Board of our Society and is providing able leadership.
S. Amrik Singh (Latti): Son of S. Bara Singh Latti, he is currently settled in New York. He owns a construction business in New York. His son and daughter-in-law are both doctors.
S. Mastan Singh: Settled in New York, he has done very well in the liquor business. He is very generous and loves to help towards community and religious causes.
S. Sujan Singh: He is currently settled in New York and is prominent in the liquor store business. He is a generous donator to all community causes and is playing an active role in our Society.
S. Jagdish Singh: He is one of our cashiers of our society and owns a large construction equipment business, which predominantly rents scaffolding equipment. He is a generous contributor to all community causes and is playing an active role in our Society.
S. Gurdial Singh: He is settled in Montreal Canada and is editor and publisher of monthly Punjabi magazine “Azad” which covers wide range of subjects and community developments.
S. Ajit Singh: Son of Sardar Gurnam Singh Kilewala, is a retired Senior Manager from Central Bank of India. His two sons are Software Engineers and they are all settled in Toronto, Canada.
S. Karnail Singh Munder: Settled at Miani he is working as a Senior Manger in Punjab & Sind Bank since 1980.
S. Balbir Singh: S/O Capt. Harnam Singh  is a Senior Manager in Bank of India, Jalandhar.
S. Gurmukh Singh: He is a Senior Manager in Bank of India.
S. Pritpal Singh Pirthi: He is a prominent businessman with gas stations and auto businesses in Indiana state in USA. He has promised lot of support for development of Miani.
S. Parvinder Singh Pappi: Prominent in gas station business.
S. Harbhajan Singh: Prominent in gas station business in Indiana.
S. Karnail Singh Akali: Prominent in Gas station business in Michigan state.
S. Surat Singh: He is prominent in Hotel business and is settled in California.
