After being in existence for two years, as of March 01, 2010 the society has achieved the following so far:

1. Street Lights Project: This is one of the major projects undertaken by our society. We are very proud of the work we have accomplished. We started and completed this task this year. We have installed 190 street lights around the village, in streets and the bazaar of Miani. This helps the people to move around at night more safely and comfortably. We have received many compliments from the people of Miani for these lights.


2. Miani-Pulpukhta Road Lights Project: This project has been completed and inaugurated. Funds for this project were provided by S. Parmjit Singh Pamma, son of Late S. Joginder Singh Kilewala. Road lights have been installed from Miani village to all the way to Gurdwara Shri Hargobind Singh Ji in Pulpukhta. These lights provide great convenience to people to move around conveniently and safely at night.


3. Miani Bhoolpur Road Project: The Miani Bhoolpur Road was very narrow and needed to be widened. Sardar Joginder Singh Sardar Manmohan Singh of our society have donated two lac rupees for this. The road has been widened and beautiful tree plants have been planted on both sides of this road. The road has been named S. Boor Singh Memorial Marg in honor of father of S. Joginder Singh and Manmohan Singh.


4. Water Drains Facility: The village had big problem of water drainage from the small street drains (Nallis) since the water was not draining out of the streets and the Nallis used to overflow causing big mess on the streets. The society planned the project to remove this problem and got constructed Puccah Nallas. As a result of this, all water from the street drains now drains out of the village and keeps streets clean. People of Miani have really appreciated this project.


5. Tree Plantaion: In coordination with our Indian Coordinators it was decided to plant 600 ornamental trees around the village to make the surroundings of village beautiful. The trees were planted last year, are growing well and and are being maintained by the society with help from local residents also. Once the trees grow up they will provide beautiful landscape to the village.


6. Panchayat Ghar: The existing panchayat ghar of the society was not in good shape and needed urgent repairs. The society has contributed funds towards construction for improvement of building and purchase of furniture. As a result Miani now has a good panchat ghar facility where they conduct all their business and can be used for any kind of meetings etc.


7. Scholarships: The society grants scholarships and rewards to top students from all local schools for students from 5th, 8th , 10th and 12th grades. This is being done to promote education and encourage students to be high achievers. These functions have already been held twice in the last two years and shall be undertaken every year in future also.


8. Winter Clothing and School Uniforms: To help students from economically weaker sections school uniforms, winter clothes and shoes are distributed to help them stay warm in winter. This event is held every year. This year this function was held on Dec. 3, 2009 and 200 students were given clothes.


9. Cremation Ground Facility: The society contributed Rs. 1,50000 towards construction for cremation facilities in the village. With local help and our contribution we now have a state of the art cremation ground facility in Miani and local residents have given thumbs up to this project.


10. Success Stories: From time to time the society identifies families who are in extreme hardship and need help to stand up again fnancially. Under this scheme we came across S. Surjit Singh a resident of ward 3, who had lost his retail shop business and the family was in extreme financial hardship. The society helped him with a grant of Rs100000 (non refundable) for capital to restart his kariana shop. Today, his business is doing well and he is able to support his family once gain and is a happy man. Another family of S. Khem Singh was also on tough economic times and was having difficulty to marry his grand daughter. Out of sympathy the society contributed Rs.100,000 towards the wedding function. The family has shown lot of gratefulness for the help.


11. Local Community Activities: The society proudly participates in local community affairs in New York also. We participated in anniversary celebrations of Sant Baba Prem Singh Ji at all local Gurdwaras by donating towards Langar. We also participated actively in birthday celebration parade of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Richmond Hill, New York.


12. Lohri Celebrations: We have celebrated the Lohri festival twice at Royal Palace in Richmond Hill, New York twice to promote more interaction between people of Miani.


13. CD Launch: Recently Sarwan Singh Sunny wrote a very special song “Gabhru Pind Miani De” and got composed a CD of this song. The song is dedicated to achievements of ambitious and hard working people of Miani.We organized a special function at Royal Palace, Richmond Hill for the launch of this CD. The night was observed as Miani Night also and was a great hit.
